Conditions of Competition and Local Rules
Format
The Championship is an individual match play event with 18 holes of stroke play qualifying.
The competition will be in two stages:
(A) Stroke Play: 18 holes stroke play to determine flights for match play
The 32 low qualifiers comprise the championship and first flight. All other flights shall consist of 16 or 8 players. If there is an insufficient number of players to fill a flight, the flight may be played as a stroke play event and/or a combination of stroke and match play at the discretion of the WOSGA.
(B) Match Play: General numerical draw is used. Match play is single-elimination. There is no consultation bracket or matches.
Field Size
The entire field is limited to 96 players.
Eligibility/Age

Invitations are extended to amateur female golfers who (1) are members of a 2023 Women's Ohio State Golf Association (WOSGA) member club, or (2) maintain a GHIN Handicap Index® at an Ohio public course or a non-WOSGA member Ohio private club and are legal residents of Ohio, and (3) meet the handicap requirements.

A contestant is considered a legal resident of Ohio per WOSGA polices if their primary residence is in Ohio and they file their federal tax return listing their primary residence in Ohio as their home address, or if a minor whose custodial parent files their federal tax return listing their primary residence in Ohio as their home address.

Proof of Ohio resident status may be required. Failure to provide proof of Ohio resident status, if requested, or being a non-resident of Ohio may result in your entry being rejected. See our Policies page for more information.

A player's eligibility is determined by their GHIN Handicap Index® in effect on the date their entry was received.

Handicap/Priority

The player must have an individual up-to-date GHIN Handicap Index for women not exceeding 18.0. A player’s eligibility is determined by their GHIN Handicap Index® in effect on the date their entry is submitted.

Past WOSGA State Amateur Champions

Until April 15, 2023, players who have competed in 2021 or 2022 WOSGA events in order of their GHIN Index.

After April 15, 2023, entry priority will be by GHIN Index only.

The is no age limit.
The WOSGA reserves the right to modify priority entry at any time.
Walking Event
Automotive transportation is NOT permitted by players or caddies. A player may carry their clubs, use a pull cart, or use a caddy.
Caddies
A player may bring caddy or for a fee, use a caddy provided by Scioto Country Club. The player is responsible for securing a caddy.

Honors: $120/round
A: $60/round
Junior: $40/round
Cart Accommodation
Consistent with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a disabled player or caddie may be permitted to use a golf cart as an accommodation to his or her disability for those events where golf carts are not allowed. As required by the ADA, the WOSGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis. For more information, click here.

The entry fee includes green fees for the practice round, tournament play, range balls, the Player’s Dinner, lunches*, and prizes.

Entry Procedure
Entry Procedure: Contestants can apply online at www.wosga.org or www.ohiogolf.org or the official WOSGA entry blank.

Make check payable to Women’s Ohio State Golf Association. Do not send cash. If bringing the one allowed guest, include $65 guest fee for player’s dinner with payment.
Refund
Entry fee refund available only for medical reasons after deadline date, July 1, 2023, 11:59 p.m. All refunds are subject to a $15 service fee.
Withdraw
Online withdraw through www.wosga.org or www.ohiogolf.org or for a player with paper entry, contact a WOSGA Tournament Director or OGA office to withdraw from the Championship. No voicemails will be accepted.
After July 1, withdrawal is for player injury or illness only. Players can WD from the tournament after July 1, but no refund is offered.
Club Mixer and Practice Rounds
A Club Mixer for the top 54 players entered into the event is scheduled for July 23rd, 2023. The event will include up to three WOSGA players and one Scioto Club Member. Players will be selected on handicap index. This event will serve as a practice round for those players. Other players will contact the Golf Shop at (614) 486-1039 to schedule a practice round after July 7 and arrange their practice round between July 8 and July 22, 2023. Players must walk during their practice round. Players will be notified by July 14 if they are expected to participate in the Club Mixer.
Player's Lunches
Lunch is available for players while in the completion. The Club shall have a daily list of players in the event; once you are eliminated from the championship, you are not eligible for lunch. Caddies and spectators may purchase food with cash only.
Compliance with Club Rules
Players shall abide by Scioto Country Club's rules. Failure to do so may result in a player's inability to be present on the property, which may lead to disqualification.
Cell Phone Use
The audible use of mobile devices (making and receiving calls) is prohibited except in an approved club area. An approved club area includes the inside of an automobile, next to a land line, or on the course in a shelter.
Practice On the Course
A player may not practice on the competition course before or between rounds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule, see Rule 5.2."
Practice Range/Facilities
The practice range and Club practice facilities including the putting green and pitching/ short game area, will be available to players before their practice round and tournament tee times. Additional practice at the range and facilities, including after your round, must be approved by Scioto’s Head Golf Professional. Once you are eliminated from the championship, you are not permitted to use any Club facilities for practice.

Late or incomplete applications are not accepted. No telephone or fax entries. Any entry fee paid by a participant on the Wait List who is not accepted into the Championship will be refunded in full. All entries shall be deemed by invitation and are subject to WOSGA Executive Committee acceptance.
